Event Details
Discover the art of Notan in this creative arts session for adults led by instructor Barbara Sax.
Notan is a Japanese word that means “light-dark balance.” A Notan uses an extremely limited range of values: in its most strict form, just black and white; in its more liberal form, black, white, and a mid-tone.
Participants will view examples of Notan as well as watch the instructor create a simple Notan design. All participants will create 2 samples- a small 4x4 practice piece (following a step by step procedure) and a second larger piece of their own choosing.
No previous artistic experience is necessary to create beautiful frame-worthy art pieces! All materials will be provided.
This program is open to Livingston Library card holders 18 and up with registration. Space is limited.
