Event Details

Wigs have played a significant role in the entertainment industry throughout history. They have been used for a variety of purposes, from enhancing an actor's appearance to symbolizing social status or character traits particularly in the world of music, fashion, and contemporary culture.

If you are curious about the wondrous world of showbusiness hair and the what, how and who of wigs in Hollywood and on Broadway, this presentation is for you.

Join speaker Robbie Amodeo, a Union costume, makeup & wig designer, as he covers the history, the very beginnings, the evolution of wigs in cinema and theater and changes with new media such as HD film.  He will also highlight the movie stars who wore iconic wigs for their roles and the wig designers who created and styled the classic hairstyles, and share some of his favorite looks.  Robbie will be bringing actual wigs to show at the program ranging from human hair to high quality synthetic and share with you the different applications for both.

With over 20 years working in film & television, Broadway & opera as a professional fashion and makeup designer, Robbie is bound to have some interesting factoids and great behind the scenes tidbits to share.

This program is made possible with the support of The Friends of the Livingston Public Library.
