Program Description

Event Details

Brain health refers to how well a person’s brain functions across several areas including cognitive health, motor function, emotional function and tactile function.

Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month is observed in June as an opportunity to spread information about and focus on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.  It is also a time to remind us that brain health is a critical piece of our overall health, underlying our ability to communicate, make decisions, problem-solve and live a productive and useful life.

This program presented in partnership with Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center will review the effects of aging on brain health and wellness. Conditions such as depression, grief, anxiety, dementia, loss of memory and Alzheimer’s disease, all of which affect brain health will be discussed and compared. Approaches to prevent and manage each condition through lifestyle changes, medications, and complementary medicine will be shared with participants.

Presenter Lucio Volino, PharmD, is a clinical pharmacist for the Retail Network at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Clinical Associate Professor, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, at Rutgers University.

This program is open to all but registration is required.
