There is a long history of television and film in New Jersey, which is considered the birthplace of the movie picture industry. Motion picture technology was invented by Thomas Edison, with early work done at his West Orange laboratory. Many television shows and motion picture films have been filmed in New Jersey, which since 1978 maintains a Motion Picture and Television Commission.
Walter Choroszewski is New Jersey Proud and in this illustrated presentation, he celebrates the state's historic contributions to American cinema and television—from Edison's Black Maria Studio to the numerous Jersey-born artists that have starred on the big and little screens. He showcases New Jersey as the birthplace of silent film, and also covers NJ's popularity as a location for movies and reality TV.
Walter is a well-known New Jersey photographer whose images were the inspiration for the iconic first state tourism campaign: NEW JERSEY & You Perfect Together! Mr. Choroszewski has been a leading advocate of Jersey pride since 1980, when he was commissioned to photograph the state for a book project. The resulting book, New Jersey: A Scenic Discovery, launched his photographic career, as well as his link to the Garden State. He has since published 18 books of photography and numerous wall calendars about our state and region. In addition to photography, Walter is also an award-winning graphic designer of books and calendars.
For over 40 years, Walter has promoted New Jersey through public speaking.
