One of the most significant challenges in adopting healthy eating habits lies in the gap between knowing what is healthy and actually making those choices a consistent part of our lives.

Many individuals are well aware of the benefits of consuming nutrient-dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, but translating that knowledge into action can feel like an uphill battle. This disconnect is often influenced by a variety of factors, such as convenience, time constraints, emotional eating habits, and the pervasive presence of highly processed, sugar-laden foods.

Moreover, our mindset plays a pivotal role in either reinforcing or hindering our ability to make healthier choices.  A fixed mindset can also cause individuals to feel that healthy eating is a rigid, all-or-nothing endeavor, which may result in guilt or discouragement when they slip up. In contrast, adopting a growth mindset—viewing healthy eating as a journey that involves gradual progress, flexibility, and learning from setbacks—can help overcome these obstacles.

This presentation by certified health coach Karthikka will explore how mental and emotional factors influence our eating behaviors and provide practical tools to bridge the gap between knowing what’s best for our health and actually implementing it in our daily lives.

She will explain how crucial it is to shift our mindset from one of restriction to one of empowerment. Instead of focusing on what we can’t have, we can emphasize the wide variety of delicious, nutrient-rich foods available to us.  Karthikka will talk of the need to recognize that small, incremental changes can lead to long-term results, and that self-compassion plays an essential role in navigating challenges along the way. By reshaping our beliefs, attitudes, and habits around food, we can create a mindset that fosters sustainable healthy eating practices.

Karthikka is a wellness enthusiast with a deep passion for holistic health. Over the course of her 20-year tech-career spanning telecom and financial services domains, Karthikka experienced several occupational hazards like back pain, migraine and carpal tunnel syndrome stemming from stress and burnout often driven by the demands of a fast paced environment. Through research and lifestyle changes, Karthikka was able to overcome her health challenges and achieve optimal wellness without relying on medication. She focused on improving nutrition, increasing movement, and incorporating self care practices like yoga and meditation into her routine, ultimately transforming her health.

Karthikka’s passion for learning, sharing her knowledge, and helping others led her to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where she studied and became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and a Certified Professional Health Coach. Today through her health coaching practice Sangam Wellness, she is dedicated to helping other busy professionals achieve their wellness goals quickly and efficiently, allowing them to succeed in both their careers and their personal health while preventing burnout.
