The Livingston Public Library invites you to an engaging author event on Tuesday, May 27th, at 7pm, featuring Abby Jiang, author of The Bumpy Road: A Memoir of a Journey from Shanghai. In her memoir, Jiang recounts her experiences growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution and starting a new life in New Jersey.

Abby Jiang, a Chinese-American author born in Shanghai, lived through the challenges of the Cultural Revolution, where she worked in a factory and the countryside as part of the movement's policies. After the Revolution ended in 1976 and China reopened its universities, she passed the national entrance exam and earned her degree in Library Science from the Fudan University branch school in Shanghai, now Shanghai University. She later worked as a librarian at a research institute in Shanghai and was promoted to chief librarian. In 1987, Abby moved to the United States and settled in New Jersey. She is married and has one daughter. Over the years, Abby has worked at the library of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, as well as in other public and research libraries. She has also gained experience as a bookkeeper for a law firm and as a licensed Realtor.

Registration is not required and all are welcome to attend. Signed copies of her book will also be available for purchase.
