Who can resist humming familiar tunes along with Judy Garland or imagine being swept off one’s feet by the fancy footwork of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly?

The American movie musical is recognized as a true American art form. The most celebrated and heart-warming original musicals were made during the 1950’s.

Explore "Gigi", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "A Star Is Born", “Royal Wedding” and everyone's favorite, "Singing in the Rain" among other musicals from the era, with lecturers Sam and Candy Copanegro on this Sunday afternoon, and get transported to a magical era.

Sam and Candy have worked in all aspects of theater for over 40 years and have lectured at a variety of venues all over the country.  They will show scenes and clips from popular and classic musicals of the time, along with a discussion of the history and analysis of their importance and longevity.

Their perspective is from a director’s point of view and from their intense love of musicals that they hope to share with others. They hope to keep the classic movie musical and the golden age of Broadway alive through their talks.

This event is open to all and no registration is required.  It is made possible with the support of The Friends of the Livingston Public Library.

Please note: Space is limited for the event.
