Sustainability is the ability to exist in a just and equitable society and develop without depleting natural resources for the future. Sustainability presumes that resources are finite, and should be used conservatively and wisely with a view to long-term priorities and consequences of the ways in which resources are used. Sustainable practices support ecological, human, and economic health and vitality.

In this session presenter Shila Wattamwar will introduce you to the issue of sustainability, why it is important, and what we as individuals can do to transform sustainability into a lifestyle.

She will show how we can integrate sustainable products and behaviors throughout our everyday lives, and positively impact our society and conserve our environment in so many important ways–reducing plastic waste and pollution, combating water shortage and supporting equality.

Shila will share simple sustainable practices and choices we can make in different facets of our lives such as in eating and drinking, home, fashion and clothing and also in financial investments. As Shila’s background is in sustainable investing, she will walk through how the sustainable investing landscape has evolved, some of the issues that investors can pay attention to when thinking about their portfolio and provides examples of sustainable funds.

Shila has worked in financial services for 15+ years where she discovered the importance of sustainable investing. Now she is also invested in helping educate people on sustainability practices to improve the world and the lives living on it through the creation of Sustainable Me, a website and community helping people to integrate sustainability into their everyday lives. Shila is also ambassador to the non-profit, Chefs 4Impact and continues to work in financial services.

This program is open to all and no registration is required.
