New Jersey musicians have had an impact on the music world since colonial days. A number of American musical firsts happened right here in the Garden State.  Jersey natives Francis Hopkinson and James Lyon were among America’s first composers, releasing music in the mid-1700s. And the tradition continued and tapped different genres—from rock and roll to jazz to hip-hop.  Newark was a stop on the road to stardom for many jazz musicians.

Join speaker Walter Choroszewski as he celebrates New Jersey's significant contributions to American music of the 20th Century.

Walter explores the music genres of jazz, pop and rock, and showcases New Jersey artists including iconic legends such as Sinatra, Count Basie & Springsteen, as well as numerous other talents from the Shirelles to the Four Seasons, and many, many more!

Walter is a well-known New Jersey photographer whose images were the inspiration for the iconic first state tourism campaign: NEW JERSEY & You Perfect Together!  Mr. Choroszewski has been a leading advocate of Jersey pride since 1980, when he was commissioned to photograph the state for a book project. The resulting book, New Jersey: A Scenic Discovery, launched his photographic career, as well as his link to the Garden State. He has since published 18 books of photography and numerous wall calendars about our state and region. In addition to photography, Walter is also an award-winning graphic designer of books and calendars.

For over 40 years, Walter has promoted New Jersey through public speaking.
