Program Description

Event Details

Start your summer with adventure and create the perfect beach read—your own book!

What makes choose-your-own adventure books so exciting for a reader? There are so many ways the story could end! It’s the same for the author, who gets to flex their creative muscle and come up with an infinite number of endings before diving in and writing.

Local author M.D. Payne (Penguin’s Monster Juice and Who Was? Series) talks about his choose-your-adventure take on the classic Frankenstein and then leads you through the process of creating your own adventures for readers to choose from. You’ll leave with an idea and multiple endings that you can write—and create exciting summer reading for family and friends.

What sort of author are you? Do you like to set booby traps for your readers? Will you make them choose between life and death, good and evil? And what sort of readers are your friends—what will they pick when you share your final work with them? Happy endings? Or devastating disasters? Guaranteed to create poolside page-turners.

This event is for tweens and teens entering grades 6-8 in Fall 2022.
