Medical cannabis is increasingly recognized for its potential role in modern healthcare, with over 30 states in the U.S. having legalized it for medical use. Cannabis, particularly cannabidiol (CBD), is being explored for its effectiveness in treating a range of conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, and epilepsy.
Join us for an in-depth discussion on cannabis and CBD, where we’ll explore their various forms, sources, and potential therapeutic uses. This session will also cover important safety considerations, including possible side effects and interactions with other medications. Common myths and misconceptions surrounding cannabis and CBD will be addressed as well.
Clinical pharmacist Lucio Volino will present the clinical evidence supporting the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and CBD, such as pain relief, improved sleep, and reduced inflammation. He will also examine the potential risks, including cognitive impairment, dependency, and medication interactions.
Dr. Volino earned his Doctor of Pharmacy at Albany College of Pharmacy, and completed a two-year, post-doctoral industry fellowship at Novartis Pharmaceuticals/Rutgers University. Dr. Volino’s current role as a Clinical Pharmacist involves managing an ambulatory care pharmacy practice site at Barnabas Health Retail Pharmacy – Saint Barnabas Medical Center where he supports clinical services and transitions of care initiatives.
This community health program is presented in cooperation with Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and requires registration.
