Gardening is a rewarding hobby that brings beauty and nature into our lives. However, as with any skill, there are a few essential do's and don'ts that can make all the difference in creating a thriving garden. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, understanding the basics of what to do—and what to avoid—will help you cultivate a flourishing space that not only looks great but supports the environment.
In this fun and colorful presentation, Nisha will showcase many common gardening mistakes in different areas: in design, such as how to design functional and beautiful paths; in installation, such as the use of edging and landscape fabric, as well as in maintenance, such as cleaning of fall leaves. She will present practical alternatives, and give easy design and maintenance tips based on her long experience. As a passionate advocate for sustainable practices, Nisha will present best practices for an ecologically friendly garden.
Nisha Khanna is a certified landscape designer and garden coach/consultant who runs her business "Growing Gardens" in Edison, NJ. She has been designing residential gardens for 10 years, and is also the estate manager for a large private garden. She practices and teaches sustainable and organic land care practices, and is obsessed with all things related to plants and trees, and birds and bees.
