Program Description
Event Details
Flash fiction, sudden fiction, microfiction, prose poetry—the short-short form offers boundless possibilities. A 1,000-word limit can contain the emotional realism of memoir, the lyricism of poetry, and the imaginative worlds of fiction. Writing short can also be fun, giving you the opportunity to experiment and play. In this workshop, we will discuss building short form structures and improving voice, characterization, dialogue, setting, mood and more.
This program will be led by Christina Kapp, who specializes in teaching writing practice and craft to beginner writers and short story/flash fiction writers for The Writers Circle, where she also serves as their Outreach and Development Coordinator. Her writing has appeared in dozens of publications including Passages North, Hobart, The MacGuffin, Forge, PANK, Gargoyle, Blood Orange Review and has been nominated for numerous Best of the Net and Pushcart Prizes.
Space is limited for this program; registration is required. Registration will open at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
This event is funded by the Friends of the Livingston Public Library. It is free and open to everyone.
