Program Description

Event Details

Makers of History is a series where we engage in STEM activities inspired by famous figures.

In our interactive sessions, we will learn about famous trailblazers and make our own creations based upon their work in the field of science. This event is open to children in grades K-5.

For Black History Month, we will be learning about Alice Ball (1892-1916), who developed a treatment for leprosy. We will learn about how she isolated compounds in a tree oil so that she could create a water-soluble solution that would work as an injection. We will then make a fun "sea in a bottle" creation using oil and water!

This program is made possible by the generosity of the Friends of the Livingston Library.
