Event Details

The Livingston Public Library invites the public to the Senior Happening series on Friday, October 20th when Rhonda Denet presents "Just Jazz.” This showcase features songs from the Great American Songbook of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, and will highlight popular standards written by artists such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and The Gershwins, as well as those made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nat “King” Cole, Frank Sinatra, and others.

Rhonda performs regularly with her band The Bad Cats, as a lead vocalist for The Jazz Music Orchestra and as a cast member of the Off-Broadway show, “The Gong Show LIVE”. In addition she is proud to be the founder and primary performer for the Silver Fox Songs showcase series, a program which brings live music to appreciative populations at various community service organizations and celebrates American classics from Jazz to Soul.

The Senior Happening is a monthly series that allows attendees (“Seniors” or otherwise) to socialize during the first part of the program (12 until 12:45 pm) by bringing a bag lunch, while enjoying desserts and coffee served by the Friends of the Library volunteers. The program and entertainment then begins at 1 pm.

Registration is required and may be done in person at the library; by telephone at (973) 992-4600; or online at www.livingstonlibrary.org. Registration begins on October 2nd for Livingston residents and other Essex County residents may register starting on October 16th.

Senior Happening is made possible in part by funds from the Essex County Division of Cultural Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and through the support from the Friends of the Livingston Library.
