Come see Sean Wang's DIDI on the big screen in our program room!
In the summer of 2008, an innocent and impressionable thirteen-year-old named Chris (Izaac Wang) engages in a series of teenage antics in the lead-up to his first year of high school. Armed with his video camera, Chris makes a series of videos that document his summer while he learns the ins and outs of teen romance, skateboarding, and feeling grateful for his immigrant mother (Joan Chen).
DIDI was a New York Times Critics' pick, and their review called it "a funny, heartfelt movie, tapping into the audience’s latent memories as well as our great relief at no longer being 13." The Los Angeles Times raved that DIDI is "a heartfelt and hilarious entry in the coming-of-age canon that’s primed to find kindred souls in a wider audience."
The film is rated R, and runs 1 hour & 33 minutes. It is in English and Mandarin, and will be screened with English subtitles.
This screening is free and open to the public, with no registration required. Free popcorn will be served (while supplies last). Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
