Event Details
During the summer, families that embrace the outdoors will be back at risk from an age old parasite, the tick. Tick season peaks at the height of summer's heat, and the incidence of tick-borne disease spikes in summer months. The blacklegged tick transmits Lyme disease, the most common tick-borne disease in the United States.
Protect yourself from ticks and Lyme disease by learning about the tick life cycle, tick removal, and differences between a variety of tick species, in this library presentation.
You will also learn how to reduce tick habitat around your home.
Presenter Dr. Amy Rowe, is the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Natural Resources Agent for Essex and Passaic Counties and has worked in the environmental field for more than 14 years.
The program is open to all and no registration is required.
